Covers That Speak For Themselves

I chose this drawing as the front cover for TKAM, as I believe that the mockingbird is the main symbol of this book, innocence. I also think that one of the most iconic and important scenes, was when Miss Maudie and Atticus explain to Jem and Scout why its a sin to kill a mockingbird.

The phrase To Kill A Mockingbird is really only a metaphor for the loss of innocence, a metaphor that would doubtless be made more powerful if the book had a a mockingbird in crosshairs as its front cover, as I have designed it.

While TKAM´s cover seems plain and ordinary, a picture of Scout from the movie,  this cover would be symbolic, and actually mean something; much like the original cover of TKAM, sporting the knothole with the gifts, and a mockingbird as well.
